What services does Ace Physiotherapy Toronto offer?

Do I need a doctor’s referral for Physiotherapy?

You do not require a Doctor’s referral to see a Physiotherapist, Chiropodist or Massage Therapist, however, some insurance companies require you to submit a Doctor’s referral with your claim.  

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see the Chiropodist?

For Orthotics, our Chiropodist will complete a referral as part of your orthotic assessment.  The Chiropodist referral is sufficient with most extended healthcare coverage providers although some insurance policies to specify that you have a Physician’s note as well.  We recommend you contact your insurance provider to ask about your specific policy.

What should I bring to my first Physiotherapy appointment?

You should bring your insurance information (Policy and ID number). Our friendly office staff will help confirm your insurance coverage details, and whether your plan qualifies for direct billing.

Your should also bring a referral from your doctor (if you have been given one).

If you have been in a car accident, please contact us beforehand by calling 416-900-6653.  We have simplified the process and will assist you in completing the required paperwork.  Please have the following information handy: insurance company’s name, claim number, policy number, adjuster’s name and telephone number.

What should I expect of my first Physiotherapy appointment?

Your first visit to our clinic begins with the completion of some basic paperwork, which takes about 10 minutes to complete.  We ask that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment, or you can download 2 of the 4 required forms from our website. Simply go to “Patient Information” and complete them prior to your appointment.

our initial session with the therapist will typically take 45-60 minutes.

During your session, your  therapist will complete the initial assessment, which includes questions about your condition and a physical examination.  

During the initial session, a treatment program will be discussed with you and, with your consent, we will begin treatment. Your therapist will answer all questions or concerns you may have regarding your condition and/or treatment

How should I dress for my Physiotherapy appointments?

We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing or bring shorts to change into.  For most issues, we suggest women wear sports bras during physiotherapy.

How many Physiotherapy appointments will I need?

The number of appointments  depends on a variety of factors.  Recovery  time varies patient to patient.  Recovery is affected by the duration and severity of conditions and the l  expected recovery time. Typically,  physiotherapy speeds up the natural recovery process of the body.  Once your initial assessment is completed, your physiotherapist will be able to give you a better idea of how long recovery will take.

Can you directly bill my extended health insurance coverage provider?

Ace Physio can direct bill to insurance providers who have signed up with the Telus Health Portal.  You will be required to complete authorization forms allowing us to transmit your insurance details digitally and assign the payment (if it is assignable) to the clinic.  Patients will have to pay any cost differential.  

Direct Billing processing requires your Extended Healthcare policy number and individual ID number, which can be found on your Benefits Card.  If your insurance policy requires you to have a doctor’s referral to use your physiotherapy benefits, simply provide your physician’s referral when you complete our registration process.

Is my therapist licensed?

Yes, all Ace Physiotherapy’s Physiotherapists are licensed under the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, and our Chiropodists are licensed under the College of Chiropodists of Ontario

I don’t have pain, can I still have Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy deals with the functionality and the mobility of the body.  If the quality of your day-to-day life is negatively impacted in any way, you may benefit from physiotherapy.

I was in a motor vehicle accident.  Do you treat people with Auto Insurance Claims?

Yes, we are registered with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and all our practitioners are licensed to treat patients through motor vehicle accident insurance.  

We have simplified the process and will assist you in navigating the required paperwork.  You will need to have the following information to start the process:  auto insurance company’s name; name of the policyholder; insurance policy number; accident claim number; and the adjuster’s name, telephone number and fax number.  If you have been in a car accident, please contact us beforehand by calling 416-900-6653.

What is your cancellation and no show policy?

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy.  If you cancel within that 24-hour window, you will be charged 50% of the booked appointment.  If you fail to show for an appointment, you will be charged the full amount of the appointment.

I was referred to another clinic by my doctor, can I still come to Ace Physio?

Yes, a referral from a doctor for physiotherapy can be used at any physiotherapy clinic.

Is Ace Physiotherapy open on weekends?

Yes, Ace’s Physiotherapists provide Physiotherapy on Saturdays in downtown Toronto.
