The Gardens was not just home to hockey teams, it also housed basketball teams, soccer teams, Toronto’s Lacrosse team and wrestling events.  Many memories have been made in the Gardens; from sporting events to concerts including the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Johnny Cash.  Maple Leaf Gardens was one of the very few places outside of the United States where Elvis would perform.

Maple Leaf Gardens Today

Today, the function of Maple Leaf Gardens has changed from a sport stadium to a multiuse facility. The main level of the Gardens is currently occupied by one of Canada’s largest food retailers, Loblaws.  This amazing 70,000 square foot grocery store provides the customer with a unique experience in allowing shoppers a peak into the Maple Leaf Gardens history, as the store has various memorabilia from the original Maple Leaf Gardens.  Also on the main level of the Gardens is retail store called Joe Fresh.  The other level is home to the Ryerson University’s Athletic Centre, carrying the tradition of the Gardens and athletics.  The Maple Leaf Gardens continues to be an important site for many Canadians, athletes, and consumers.
